Program Overview

The Bachelor of Arts in Ministry Chaplaincy is a faith-based undergraduate program designed to provide students with foundational preparation for Christian chaplaincy and ministry service in diverse community and institutional settings. The program introduces students to the purpose, expectations, opportunities, and ethical responsibilities of chaplaincy while developing essential knowledge in Christian counseling, grief support, psychology, soul care, and compassionate ministry. Students examine the role of the Christian chaplain as a ministry presence who provides spiritual encouragement, biblical support, compassionate care, and appropriate guidance to individuals and families experiencing grief, crisis, transition, and other significant life circumstances. Through the integration of Scripture, Christian ethics, counseling principles, and an understanding of human behavior, students develop a thoughtful and responsible approach to serving people from varied backgrounds while maintaining a distinctly Christian ministry foundation. The program prepares students to demonstrate foundational competency in Christian chaplaincy, ethical ministry practice, grief support, interpersonal care, and biblically grounded service. Students complete the program by demonstrating their ability to integrate the major areas of study through the Bachelor of Arts in Ministry Chaplaincy Final Comprehensive Examination.
